I am happy to proofread anything that needs to be accurate. Marketing emails, complete campaigns, reports for stakeholders and internal presentations; if a communication is important it is necessary to get it proofread.
I will double-check all facts, dates and telephone numbers. I will not take anything for granted and I want to gain a reputation for being pedantic. If it is worth publishing, it is worth getting right.
As an example, I received a marketing email from a well-known not-for-profit that I support. It was inviting me to an event and I was pleased to receive it. However, the date published was incorrect and it contained silly mistakes. The email was sent to their complete database of members.
It is easy for customers to spot mistakes, but not for authors to spot their own.

Copy editing
We have all heard the adage 'This is a long letter because I didn't have time to write a short one'.
Creating impactful text does take time, but it is important. Short sentences and paragraphs that use plain English are better understood than lengthy passages full of jargon.
I understand the importance of house style and tone of voice. I can edit your text to communicate your message in a way that reflects your brand.

Brand consistency
Correct use of a brand identity across all media is vitally important. It is surprising how often this is forgotten and inconsistencies become evident.
With my long experience in brand management, I can check for brand guideline compliance and consistency of use across all collateral. Sometimes that one good spot can save money and embarrassment.

About me.
I have been involved with design and typography for much of my long career. I spent many years working in design agencies and then progressed to managing the brands of Cambridge Assessment and the University of Cambridge.
I am now at a stage where I wish to put my experience to use in a slightly different way.
I recently retrained as a proofreader and copy editor and I now want to help others represent their brands well by ensuring marketing collateral is correct, consistent and well written.
